It is 8 AM and I am on LJ, and drinking coffee.

Wanky ones that forget to take into account logic. I love to lead people around in circles of their own failure. A recent amusing one would be, 'How dare you tell me if my child is swearing at you!'

I want to live a 'what-if' machine. Instead of just watching my what-ifs play out, I'd get to live them, starting from the moment of the change. I already know my first question; What if I had never been homeschooled?

Obviously, I wouldn't be able to remember the original pathline of my life, or else the results of the new scenario would be worthless. I'd just pick right back up in third grade, like the last ten years had never happened.

But then I wondered.... What if I'm already living a what-if?? What if those years of school that I missed were so hellish that I went back to wish them away?

But what if all we have now is the result of what-if after what-if, all from different people? Each person getting the chance to try and change things for the better, but with everyone else's mixed in as well, contradicting, combining to make unexpected results, it just got more and more fucked up until we got what we've got now?

Then I wondered if I would've come up with any of this if I hadn't had way too much caffeine at 1 am.

There is one thing I absolutely loathe.

WHY do people insist on ending arguments while perpetuating them? Throwing out accusations in the same sentence as, 'Fine, let's drop it', or sending it, then running (logging out) before you get a chance to reply. It's about the most childish thing to do, and it's nothing but a desperate attempt to get the last word.

Well, I'm okay with not having the last word. I am not okay with not having the last word because the other person did that. No, I am not 'unable to let things go', I just want to finish the discussion.

Especially when that 'last word' proves very much that the person didn't listen to a word I said. Sexually harassing an authority figure means that this person respects their authority and is genuinely attracted to the person? And this is the 'nice' way to get what they want?

So where does that leave me? A non-delusional person who believes in reincarnation?

That's not to say that some people don't actually remember past lives. But, uh. If anyone comes up to me and says it, unless they have a very compelling story, I'm not going to be inclined believe it. Just like ghosts; I believe in them, but don't believe ghost stories. I don't even believe my own experience with a 'ghost'! There is no doubt in my mind that somewhere in the universe, there is intelligent life. Maybe they even hang around here. That doesn't mean I'm gonna go around chasing UFO reports.

Even if some can legitimately remember a past life, the majority of those claiming a past life probably can't. And I'm certainly not one who can.

Then again, it would be nice to be able to say I was a famous author in a past life, but I won't be holding my breath or wishing to find the connection. Because, oh my fucking god, what if it was Hemingway? I'd be much better off not knowing.

I definitely consider myself a realist, on average. I spend a lot of time as an optimist, a lot of time as a pessimist, and just a little time as an actual realist, but it balances out.
